Sha Wortman, LPC

Hi, I'm Sha! I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Birmingham, AL, with over 20 years of experience helping adults, preteens, teens, and families navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and hope.

My approach is warm, calming, and grounded in both professional training and real-life experience. Whether I'm supporting an adult through anxiety, grief, trauma, or a difficult life transition, helping a teen navigate emotional overwhelm, or walking alongside a parent who feels stuck and unsure what to do next, I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel truly seen and understood.

As an EMDR Trained Clinician, I also help clients process distressing experiences and emotional wounds that continue to impact their daily lives and relationships.

Elisabeth Gaylor, Counseling Intern

Under the Supervision of Sara Hadgraft, LMFT, LPC, NCC

Hi, I'm Elisabeth! I'm a Counseling Intern pursuing my Master's degree in Counseling at New York University. I bring more than 20 years of experience supporting children, teens, parents, and families through community mental health, foster care services, family advocacy, and school-based settings.

I believe therapy should be a calm, supportive space where clients feel comfortable sharing their story, exploring challenges, and discovering new tools for growth. Whether you're navigating anxiety, family stress, parenting concerns, or a major life transition, my goal is to help you better understand yourself, build on your strengths, and move forward with greater confidence and hope.

Sara Hadgraft, LMFT, LPC, NCC

Founder & Executive Director | AAMFT Supervisor

Hi, I’m Sara. I’m the founder of Sparrow Counseling in Birmingham, Alabama. I have over 15 years of experience helping couples and families through seasons of conflict, transition, and repair. While my early work focused on high-conflict divorce and co-parenting, I’ve become deeply passionate about helping couples stay together through intentional, focused work.

That’s why I now offer Couples Counseling Intensives: extended, immersive sessions that help couples move beyond surface conflict, uncover core patterns, and rebuild connection with clarity and momentum. I also continue to support parents, families, and children through complex transitions with tools, structure, and hope.

If you’re overwhelmed but ready for change, I’d be honored to help you find your next step forward.
