Elisabeth Gaylor, Counseling Intern, under the Supervision of Sara Hadgraft, LPC, LMFT, AAMFT Supervisor

Hi, I'm Elisabeth!

I believe that every person has the capacity for growth, healing, and positive change. My goal is to provide a calm, supportive environment where clients feel safe to share their story, explore challenges, and discover practical tools that help them move forward with greater confidence and resilience.

Although I am currently pursuing my Master's degree in Counseling at New York University, I bring more than two decades of experience working alongside children, teens, parents, and families. My professional background includes community mental health counseling, foster care and family services through the Alabama Department of Human Resources, family court advocacy, custody consulting, school-based work, and child advocacy through CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates).

Throughout my career, I have supported families through difficult transitions, collaborated with schools and mental health professionals, advocated for children, and helped parents navigate complex situations involving family stress, behavioral concerns, foster care involvement, and educational needs. Most recently, I have worked as a counselor in a community mental health program, providing individual, family, and group therapy while helping clients build practical skills for growth and healing.

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based. I enjoy helping clients better understand themselves, identify patterns that may be holding them back, and develop new tools to navigate life's challenges. I don't believe therapy is about having all the answers. Instead, I see it as a process of working together to help you discover your strengths, build resilience, and create meaningful change.

I have a special passion for working with preteens, teens, parents, and individuals navigating life transitions. I understand that these seasons can feel overwhelming and uncertain, and I strive to create a space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered. My hope is that clients leave sessions feeling lighter, more hopeful, and equipped with practical strategies they can use in everyday life.

I was drawn to Sparrow Counseling because of its commitment to authenticity, excellence, and helping individuals and families thrive. These values closely align with my own belief that meaningful growth happens when people feel supported, respected, and encouraged.

When I'm not working or studying, you'll likely find me spending time with family and friends, enjoying the outdoors, shopping, exploring interior design, or simply relaxing outside.

I look forward to walking alongside you as you pursue growth, healing, and becoming the healthiest version of yourself.
