General Information For Therapist Positions at Sparrow Counseling

General Information:

This is a W2 employee part-time to a full-time position. Sparrow Counseling is looking for someone who loves to work with families in transition. For example, couples having babies, kids leaving for college, or a couple contemplating separation, or divorce. We take care of the office space, administrative support, computer needs, and all things for simple charting & office needs. We offer flexible scheduling and a supportive work environment.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree in counseling with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy is preferred; and

  • Active, unrestricted license (Ph.D., PsyD, LMFT, LPC, JD, ALC, MFTA) in the State of Alabama. A copy must be provided to Sparrow Counseling.

  • Available to hold at least 8-10 client sessions per week and be willing to have up to 20-25 clients per week provided such sessions are available and referred/scheduled by Sparrow Counseling

  • Liability Insurance coverage of $1M/$3M (initially, then Sparrow Counseling will cover)

Other Qualification Preferences:

  • Prior experience in a private practice setting.

  • Have at least one niche market for counseling services (i.e., children, teens, couples, divorce, blended families, EMDR, trauma, anxiety, grief, anger management, etc.).

  • Have a JD or Ph.D. degree with experience working with families of divorce

  • Certified Play Therapist

  • EMDR trained

Hours and Pay

Work hours and schedule may vary depending on clients and Sparrow Counseling needs. Hours may include some nights and/or weekends. The therapist is not guaranteed a minimum number of clients or sessions per week. However, it is expected that the Therapist will be available to hold at least 8-10 patient sessions per week and be willing to have up to 20-25 clients per week, provided such sessions are available and referred/scheduled by Sparrow Counseling. Client sessions are held in the offices of Sparrow Counseling or online in a secure, confidential setting.

The clinical pay range is $42-100/hour depending on the level of training and experience

This opportunity has the potential to earn $52,500 - $125,000 annually.
*Compensation is based on 25 client contact hours per week + working 50 weeks per year

*Compensation does not include admin hours which can be up to 8 hours/month depending on the number of clients you are seeing.

 Job Duties and Responsibilities as a Marriage and Family Therapist: 

  1. Perform clinical counseling services to clients of Sparrow Counseling, as scheduled, and in accordance with company policies.  

  2. Regular and reliable attendance and timely arrival to work are required.  

  3. Be properly licensed and abide by all laws, rules, regulations, and codes of ethics.

  4. Communicate with a client’s treatment team (i.e. psychiatrist, school, etc.) as necessary.

  5. Timely complete written records for each client including, but not limited to: intake notes, progress notes, treatment plans, termination notes, contract notes, and other forms or documents which may be needed or required from time to time by Sparrow.

  6. Counseling or consultation with third-party professionals in conjunction with the treatment of the client in a timely fashion.

  7. Attend mandatory staff meetings and training as directed by Sparrow Counseling.

  8. Conduct and regulate counseling services in a professional manner to maintain and increase the goodwill and reputation of Sparrow Counseling.  Be respectful of and cooperative and collaborative with co-workers.

  9. Other duties that may be assigned by Sparrow Counseling.
